DESIGN METHODOLOGY:

We were asked to structure and facilitate a series of quick half-day design thinking workshops by the dedicated folks at FabLabFactory, the company that aims to bring FabLabs to corporates, schools and communities across Europe by building dedicated MakerSpaces or driving up in their STEAMachine MakerTruck. Here’s how we went about that task:

  • giving participants a quick introduction to Design Thinking: how it originated, what the key elements are, how a design mind thinks, which underlying process structures each design thinking project and which tools to use
  • applying the new learnings in a hands-on Design Thinking challenge to embrace empathy, quick prototyping iterations and failing forward
  • discussing how Design Thinking could be applied in the participants’ respective educational context

OUTPUT:

Design Thinking training presentation and quick empathy challenge kit

KEY SKILLS:

  • “teach the teachers” workshop facilitation
  • building customised design thinking challenge kit
